May Virtual Meeting on Zoom

May 19 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm PDT

Our meeting begins at 12:30 pm (Pacific time).  Feel free to join at 12:00 if you would like to chat and get to know members before the meeting begins.  We will be discussing “The Adventure of the Copper Beeches” from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.  Read the full story online here.

Instructions for Joining our Virtual meeting:
Zoom can be used with a computer or a phone; even if you don’t have the Zoom app or go to the Zoom website, you can still call in with a 253 area code!  We will send out the meeting ID and Password at 9 AM on Sunday morning. If you won’t be able to access your email then, please let us know and we will call or help you another way.
Smart phone or tablet option:
Download the Zoom app and launch it. It will ask for a meeting ID and a password.
_________
Regular phone option:
Call (253) 215-8782
_________
Computer option:
If you use your computer, you will need at least a working microphone and speaker. If you have a camera you can use that too, but it’s not mandatory.
When you launch Zoom, it will ask you about your microphone and speaker, and your camera if you have one. Pick what works for you. You can always turn the camera off at any time.
To Download Zoom:
This will either ask to download, or download immediately. Don’t worry either way.
Launch it and use the meeting ID and password.
When the meeting starts the host will let you into the meeting. Don’t worry if you’re in the “waiting room” for a minute or two. I highly recommend you watch the video Margaret found below, and/or download Zoom and look at the Zoom website ahead of time so you are familiar with it for Sunday. It’s not super hard, just takes a few minutes to feel comfortable!
Notes:
You may be muted when you enter the room, depending on the settings. Find the little microphone icon and click it to unmute yourself. Similarly – if you are not talking, it is good practice to mute yourself so everyone can hear without background noise. The host may mute you if you are creating background noise.
A good safety tip is to have a piece of paper or a cover over your camera screen ALL the time and to only remove it when you are using the camera.

This is the Zoom website if you want to take a look at what they offer and how it works:
